Supervisor Comments
Robert has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, but most especially with students. His ability to connect with his students and his talent for teaching difficult concepts in imaginative and simple ways are exceptional. He is constantly seeking to upgrade his skills, and his personal interest in using technology to aid student learning made his students excited to learn. He has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is extremely well organized, reliable, and very computer literate. He is an excellent team player but also someone who can work independently and who always follows through to ensure that the job gets done. He accomplishes all and any tasks with great initiative and with a very positive attitude. Robert's excellence in whatever he does can be seen in the relations he developed with all the other employees in our organization. Robert was well-liked and highly regarded by teachers, support staff, managers and of course students. I miss his professionalism, dedication and positive outlook. If you are looking for a teacher with character, integrity, and a passion for teaching, you need look no further than Robert Cote.

Robert is very strong in terms of his performance as a teacher. His goals in teaching are not just to prepare students to pass an exam, but to help prepare his students in terms of academic literacy for the kinds of academic situations which lie ahead of them. His student evaluations were very high (all 5s from one group), and students comment on his accessibility, interest and well-preparedness. His position as ESL Director calls for working closely with students, and often he has served as mentor for them. Overall, Robert is an engaged teacher whose contributions to pedagogical improvements via his research show great promise towards enhancing pedagogy in our ESL Program as well as in the writing teaching community beyond our institution.

Robert is an extremely valuable member of the CESL team. His energy and passion for new ideas and techniques for teaching are highly respected. His organizational skills are outstanding, and his willingness to go above and beyond to help both his students and fellow teachers is remarkable. Robert is the ‘get things done’ guy and can be trusted with any responsibility. His continued growth in dealing effectively with all colleagues is honorable. His potential recruitment away from CESL will leave a gaping hole (or an energy black hole of sorts) for us.
